Fourth Day/Reunion Groups

The Emmaus movement does not exist primarily for the weekend Walks.

Its purposes are to deepen the faith of individuals, to increase the faith of congregations, and to bring Christianity to the world. Emmaus gives pilgrims the skills needed for leadership and invites them to make the commitment needed to build up the church for the sake of Jesus Christ.

The questions asked at the Walk closing – “What has this weekend meant to you?” and “What are you going to do with it?” help pilgrims begin to comprehend the kind of servant leadership that God may require of them in the future.

After your Pilgrim Walk, a crucial part of continuing your Emmaus journey to join (or form) a Fourth Day Reunion Group. These groups

* Keep you connected with your fellow local Christians
* Provide regularly-scheduled opportunities to renew your commitment to Christ
* Allow you to share your praises and prayer requests with a small, trusted group.

Some groups meet weekly, others monthly. Some meet in a church, cafe, home or even online. In a safe, confidential environment, your Fourth Day Reunion Group meetings allow you to share when you felt closest to Christ, when you were called to discipleship, and when you may have denied a call to discipleship since your last meeting. You’ll also share with your group your new plan for Christian study and action. Reunion group members pray together, support each other and hold each other accountable for walking their Walk.
